Diet and lifestyle advice

Evidence-informed nutrition advice with a functional medicine approach, from Dr Reece Yeo, Integrative Chinese Medicine Practitioner, built around the life you actually live.

Part of Reece's Resilience Medicine approach.

What it covers

Diet and lifestyle advice is part of every Comprehensive consultation and follow-up with Reece. It covers what you eat and drink, and the everyday things around it, such as sleep, stress, movement and recovery. Reece trained in medicine before retraining in Chinese and functional medicine. He doesn't practise as a GP or medical practitioner, and works alongside yours. He holds a Certificate in Health Coaching from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

A functional medicine approach

Reece brings a functional medicine approach together with a Chinese medicine view of your constitution, so the advice you get is matched to you.

How Reece builds your advice

Your questionnaires ask about your symptoms, emotions, lifestyle and diet, so Reece can start thinking about how to help you before he sees you. In your consultation, he goes through any pathology results with you in plain words and explains what's happening in your body from both a western and a Chinese medicine point of view.

Then he gives you diet and lifestyle recommendations that are practical and that you can keep up. If certain foods seem to be part of the picture, he may suggest a careful elimination and reintroduction diet to work out which foods don't agree with you. If tests could clarify your symptoms, he'll explain what they involve and what they cost, and you decide.

Supplements, only when they fit

Herbal medicine and supplements are only considered after a full consultation, and Reece discusses the options and costs with you first. Please talk to Reece before starting or changing any supplement, tell him about everything you already take, and don't stop or change a prescribed medicine without talking to your doctor.

Keeping it going

Changes to diet and habits take time and effort. Your first follow-up is usually 7 to 14 days after your first consultation, to see how you're going with the changes, and follow-ups let Reece adjust your plan. With your OK, he can share your results with your GP.

Questions about diet and lifestyle advice

Will I have to follow a strict diet?

Any changes are talked through with you first. The aim is to work towards a way of eating that helps and that you can keep up long term.

Do I have to take supplements?

No. If Reece thinks a supplement might help, he explains why and what it costs, and you decide.
