Cardiovascular health

A whole-picture look at the everyday things that shape your heart health, with your results explained in plain words, alongside your GP or cardiologist.

General information only. This page is general information, not personal health advice. Everyone's health is different, so talk to Reece or your own health practitioner before you make changes.

Looking after your heart for the long term

Heart health is shaped by many things at once. Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight, sleep, stress, diet and how much you move can all play a part, and they often change gradually over the years.

Reece looks at what you can work on now, such as diet, movement, sleep and stress. He doesn't practise as a GP or medical practitioner. He works alongside your GP or cardiologist and doesn't replace your heart care.

Concerns people often bring to Reece

  • Blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar results from your GP that you'd like explained
  • A family history of heart problems, and what you can work on early
  • Weight and metabolic changes
  • Stress, sleep and general wellbeing
  • Living with a heart condition: supportive care alongside your cardiologist

Reece doesn't provide emergency care. If you have chest pain or think someone is having a heart attack, call 000.

"I take time to understand the whole picture before suggesting a plan." (Reece)

How Reece works with you

Functional medicine assessment

Reece goes through your health history and recent pathology with you, and explains what your results mean from both a western and a Chinese medicine point of view. If more tests could help, Reece explains why and what they cost, and you decide. Medicare doesn't cover these tests when Reece arranges them. With your OK, he can share your results with your GP.

Classical Chinese medicine

Reece practises the classical Jingfang tradition, and uses acupuncture chosen for your constitutional pattern to support your general wellbeing. He talks you through your options, and any costs, before you start.

Diet and lifestyle

Practical, evidence-informed advice on food, movement, sleep and stress, built around the life you actually live. Diet and lifestyle

Your first consultation

Your initial consultation is up to 180 minutes, which gives time to go through your health history and pathology properly and start on a personalised plan. As part of a thorough health history, Reece will ask about your current heart care and your treating team, and he'll work alongside them.

Questions about cardiovascular health

Will Reece change my heart medicines?

No. Reece doesn't change or stop medicines your doctor has prescribed. Your questionnaires ask about every medicine and supplement you take, so please tell him about all of them, and let him know if anything changes.

Can I book if I take a blood thinner?

Please tell Reece about it along with your other medicines. If you take warfarin, he may need to refer you to a more appropriate practitioner.
