Skin concerns

Dry, itchy or irritated skin, breakouts and redness, with topical and lifestyle support.

General information only. This page is general information, not personal health advice. Everyone's health is different, so talk to Reece or your own health practitioner before you make changes.

Looking beneath the surface

Chinese medicine and functional medicine both often see skin conditions as an outward sign of an imbalance inside, often linked to gut health, inflammation, hormones or immune regulation. Early research on the "gut-skin axis" has found links between the make-up of the gut microbiome and inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema, acne, psoriasis and rosacea. [1][2] Reece looks at these with you, along with supportive topical and lifestyle changes.

Concerns people often bring to Reece

  • Dry, itchy or irritated skin, alongside your GP or dermatologist
  • Breakouts, including ones that flare with your cycle
  • Living with psoriasis: support alongside your dermatologist
  • Redness and flushing
  • Hives that keep coming back, and other skin reactions, alongside your GP
  • Chronic itchiness

"Skin rarely sits on its own. I like to look at the whole picture with you: digestion, hormones, stress and sleep, as well as your skin." (Reece)

How Reece works with you

Functional medicine assessment

A look at gut health, foods that may not agree with you, inflammation and hormones, which can all play a part in how your skin behaves. Reece will talk you through the cost of any functional testing, and whether it's right for you, during your consultation. Medicare doesn't cover these tests when Reece arranges them.

Classical Chinese medicine

Herbal formulas chosen for your constitutional pattern, with acupuncture where it's clinically appropriate.

Diet and lifestyle

Practical advice on food, sleep and stress, including working out which foods don't agree with you, alongside your skincare and your GP or dermatologist's advice.

Your first consultation

Your initial consultation is up to 180 minutes, which gives time to look properly at what's behind your skin, not just what shows on the surface. Reece then puts together a plan with you.
